Attachment is a key factor in the study of romantic relationships, while there is growing interest in psychological inflexibility (PI) and relationship mindfulness (RM). However, little is known about how these variables are interrelated within romantic partners and about the specific relevance of distinct RM components. The present study examined intra- and interpersonal associations among insecure dimensions of romantic attachment, PI, and RM, as well as their effects on partners’ psychological well-being and relationship satisfaction. In addition, the unique intra- and interpersonal effects of specific RM components were explored. Data from 89 heterosexual couples were analyzed using Actor-Partner Interdependence Mediation Models and Actor-Partner Interdependence Models. Analyses of psychological well-being revealed an intrapersonal effect of female PI between anxiety and well-being, an intrapersonal effect of male PI between avoidance and well-being, and an interpersonal effect of male PI in the association between female RM and male well-being. Analyses of relationship satisfaction indicated an intrapersonal effect of female RM between avoidance and satisfaction, an intrapersonal effect of male RM between avoidance and satisfaction, an interpersonal effect of female RM between female avoidance and male satisfaction, an interpersonal effect of female anxiety between female PI and male satisfaction, an intrapersonal effect of female RM between PI and satisfaction, and an interpersonal effect of male RM between female PI and male satisfaction. The RM dimensions associated with outcomes were notice and trust of self for well-being, and acceptance, letting go, nonjudging, patience, and non-striving for satisfaction. Overall, the present study expands current understanding of dyadic effects of romantic attachment, PI, and RM on partners’ well-being and relationship satisfaction, while highlighting the importance of investigating RM through its specific components.

Abstract
Overall, the present study expands current understanding of dyadic effects of romantic attachment, PI, and RM on partners’ well-being and relationship satisfaction, while highlighting the importance of investigating RM through its specific components.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
