This study explores the topic of motivating and demotivating parenting styles within the theoretical framework of Self-Determination Theory (Ryan & Deci, 2020) and the circumplex model proposed by Aelterman et al. (2019). The first chapter presents the theoretical framework of Self-Determination Theory and the circumplex model. The second chapter analyses supportive parenting styles and the antecedents that support their adoption. The third chapter illustrates the research and presents the Parenting Motivating Scale (PMS), as well as the data collection procedures and tools used. The fourth chapter presents the statistical analyses and results obtained, highlighting the relationships between motivational styles and the support or frustration of basic psychological needs. Finally, the fifth chapter offers a critical discussion of the results in light of the circumplex model, highlighting its theoretical implications, limitations and possible applications.

The third chapter illustrates the research and presents the Parenting Motivating Scale (PMS), as well as the data collection procedures and tools used. The fourth chapter presents the statistical analyses and results obtained, highlighting the relationships between motivational styles and the support or frustration of basic psychological needs. Finally, the fifth chapter offers a critical discussion of the results in light of the circumplex model, highlighting its theoretical implications, limitations and possible applications.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
