This bioarchaeological research examines two collective burials dating to the Late Middle Ages, Graves 5 and 14, from the cemetery of the parish church of S. Giustina in Monselice (Padua). The study aims to reconstruct the depositional practices and biological characteristics of the buried individuals, with particular attention to the determination of biological sex, age at death, stature, and the main paleopathological evidence observed on the osteological remains. The comparison between the two tombs revealed significant differences in funerary practices: Grave 14 presents a relatively orderly context, with a disturbed primary burial associated with secondary reductions of earlier individuals, whereas Grave 5 shows a chaotic accumulation of remains belonging to more than ten individuals, arranged on multiple levels within the grave, indicating repeated reopenings and more complex anthropic disturbances. Beyond outlining a taphonomic framework, the analysis also enabled the reconstruction of the biological profile and health status of the buried population. The study of these parameters allowed for the assessment of living conditions, physiological stress levels and the presence of pathological conditions, thereby providing an overall picture of the health status of part of the inhumed community of Monselice.
