Examining the structure of the Roman Empire at the height of its expansion reveals that numerous provincial capitals were not located at the center of their respective provinces, but rather along their borders. This choice can in fact be traced back to historical, topographical, and strategic reasons connected with the processes of Roman conquest and territorial organization. The research analyzes a selected group of cities, highlighting their historical and foundational similarities and comparing them with one another, in order to identify possible urbanistic and functional patterns that may reflect shared administrative and ideological choices within the framework of Roman provincial policy.

Abstract
Examining the structure of the Roman Empire at the height of its expansion reveals that numerous provincial capitals were not located at the center of their respective provinces, but rather along their borders. This choice can in fact be traced back to historical, topographical, and strategic reasons connected with the processes of Roman conquest and territorial organization. The research analyzes a selected group of cities, highlighting their historical and foundational similarities and comparing them with one another, in order to identify possible urbanistic and functional patterns that may reflect shared administrative and ideological choices within the framework of Roman provincial policy.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
