Hoorter naer. Un'edizione del manoscritto Ge del Karel ende Elegast.

The subject of my dissertation is manuscript Ge (Gand, Universiteitsbibliotheek, 896 – A) of the famous Middle Dutch chivalric romance Karel ende Elegast. Manuscript Ge is a rather peculiar fragment, not only for its material features, but also for its content. My dissertation consist of three main parts: the first part consist of two chapters. The first one is about the political and social situation of the Low Countries in the Low Middle Ages and the Dutch medieval literature as a whole. The second chapter introduces the poem Karel ande Elegast: it focuses not only on the features and the themes of this chivalric romance, but also on its manuscripts and prints. The central part of my degree thesis consists in the transcription of the text of manuscript Ge: both the material features and the rest of the tradition are going to be taken into account. In the last part, the text in Ge is going to be analysed linguistically: not only the tipically Middle Dutch features are going to be focused on, but also the dialectal ones.

La presente tesi si concentra sul manoscritto Ge (Gand, Universiteitsbibliotheek, 896 – A) del celebre romanzo cavalleresco nederlandese medio Karel ende Elegast. Il manoscritto Ge, scritto nel XIV secolo, è un frammento particolare: questo vale sia dal punto di vista materiale sia da quello contenutistico. La tesi è fondamentalmente suddivisa in tre parti principali: la prima è costituita da due capitoli. Il primo capitolo riguarda la situazione politica e sociale delle Terre Basse nel Basso Medioevo nonché la letteratura nederlandese medievale. Il secondo introduce il Karel ende Elegast stesso: esso si concentra sulle caratteristiche e sui temi di questo romanzo cavalleresco, come pure sui manoscritti e sulle stampe che lo tramandano. La parte centrale della tesi consiste nella trascrizione del testo del manoscritto Ge: si terrà conto delle sue caratteristiche materiali e, contemporaneamente, ci si confronterà con il resto della tradizione. Nella parte conclusiva, il testo di Ge verrà analizzato del punto di vista linguistico: ci si concentrerà tanto sulle caratteristiche tipicamente nederlandesi medie quanto su quelle dialettali.
