This thesis aims to address the theme of death in children's literature. The study focuses on showing how literature can become a tool for support and reflection. For this purpose, the book La mujer de la guarda was translated, a work intended to accompany children going through the grieving process, giving space to the emotions they experience in such situations. To achieve these objectives, various methodologies were used, including research on the history of children's literature, its evolution, its characteristics, and the way it deals with the theme of death. Subsequently, the book La mujer de la guarda was translated and analyzed. The translation and analysis of La mujer de la guarda allow reflection on the power of literature as a tool that can help children manage emotions that deserve to be heard. In conclusion, this thesis highlights the importance of addressing the theme of death in children's literature, offering a translation that opens a dialogue between the world of children and adults, helps us understand how children experience grief, and reminds us that children are aware of everything, sometimes even more than adults themselves.
El presente trabajo de tesis tiene como objetivo abordar el tema de la muerte en la literatura infantil. El estudio se centra en mostrar cómo la literatura puede convertirse en un instrumento de acompañamiento y reflexión. Con este propósito, se ha realizado la traducción de La mujer de la guarda, un libro destinado a acompañar a los niños que atraviesan un proceso de duelo, con el fin de dar espacio a las emociones que experimentan en esa situación. Para alcanzar estos objetivos, se utilizaron diversas metodologías, entre ellas una investigación sobre la historia de la literatura infantil, su evolución, sus características y la manera en que aborda el tema de la muerte. Posteriormente, se procedió a la traducción y al análisis de la obra La mujer de la guarda. La traducción y el análisis de La mujer de la guarda permiten reflexionar sobre el poder de la literatura como herramienta que puede ayudar a los niños a gestionar emociones que merecen ser escuchadas. En conclusión, esta tesis pretende destacar la importancia de abordar el tema de la muerte en la literatura infantil, ofreciendo una propuesta de traducción que abre un diálogo entre el mundo de los niños y los adultos, nos permite comprender cómo viven el duelo y nos recuerda que los niños lo saben todo, y que a veces saben incluso más que los propios adultos.
