Strategie di traduzione audiovisiva applicate al sottotitolaggio della serie TV russa Yeralash

In this thesis, I developed a subtitling project based on selected episodes of the iconic Russian TV series Yeralash. The work is structured into three chapters. The first chapter explores the history of Russian cinema and of the series itself, tracing its development over time and examining the major changes that occurred during the transition from the Soviet to the post-Soviet era. The second chapter provides an overview of the main forms of audiovisual translation, with particular attention to subtitling techniques. It also discusses the translator’s role and the specific skills required in this field. The final chapter represents the core of the research and focuses on the practical subtitling experiment, the application of the theoretical concepts presented earlier. This section includes a translation analysis and commentary on selected excerpts, highlighting the main challenges, distinctive features, and strategies used to fill linguistic and cultural gaps between the two languages.

All’interno di questo elaborato di tesi ho realizzato un progetto di sottotitolaggio di alcuni episodi della storica serie televisiva russa Yeralash. La tesi si articola in tre capitoli. Nel primo capitolo viene ripercorsa la storia del cinema russo e della serie stessa, analizzandone l’evoluzione nel corso degli anni e, in particolare, le trasformazioni avvenute nel passaggio dall’era sovietica a quella post-sovietica. Il secondo capitolo introduce le principali tipologie di traduzione multimediale, con un focus specifico sulle tecniche di sottotitolaggio, mettendo in evidenza il ruolo e le competenze del traduttore in questo ambito. Il terzo capitolo costituisce il fulcro dell’elaborato e presenta l’esperimento pratico di sottotitolaggio, ovvero l’applicazione delle conoscenze teoriche esposte nei capitoli precedenti. Tale parte comprende l’analisi traduttiva e il commento dei segmenti proposti, evidenziando difficoltà, peculiarità e strategie adottate per superare le differenze linguistiche e culturali tra le due lingue.
