Phraseological units are an essential part of discourse, and their teaching in Spanish as a Foreign Language (SFL) is key to helping learners achieve more spontaneous, natural, and fluent communication. This thesis examines the teaching of phraseological units in SFL from both a theoretical and practical perspective. The first chapter defines phraseology and describes its main features, functions, and categories, including collocations, idioms, proverbs, and routine formulas. The second chapter examines how these units are taught in SFL classrooms, focusing on the teacher’s role, the main challenges, and useful teaching strategies. The third chapter presents a field study based on a questionnaire given to university students, aiming to assess their knowledge of phraseological expressions and to compare results between basic and advanced levels. Finally, the fourth chapter proposes a didactic approach to include phraseology in the SFL classroom, supported by the literature review and the study’s findings, which show that phraseology often receives less attention than other aspects of the language.

Abstract
Finally, the fourth chapter proposes a didactic approach to include phraseology in the SFL classroom, supported by the literature review and the study’s findings, which show that phraseology often receives less attention than other aspects of the language.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
