In the period following the First World War, Jane Austen was firmly established as one of the great authors of the literary canon, admired by both critics and a large number of readers. In these years, her novels experienced a new fortune thanks to numerous cinematic and theatrical adaptations, rewritings, reinterpretations. Starting from the second half of the twentieth century, fan fiction inspired by her characters and her narrative universes also multiplied: a testimony to the profound emotional and creative involvement of the public, which continues to dialogue with Austen's work in ever new and original forms.
