Starting from the scant biographical data available concerning the relationship between the Romagnol painter Jacopo Bertucci, known as Jacopone da Faenza, and the sixteenth-century workshop of the Dossi in Ferrara, as well as from the pictorial evidence of his artistic maturity—which likewise reveals a profound connection with Ferrarese painting—this dissertation seeks to reconstruct Jacopone’s formative years. It aims to bring order to his oeuvre by proposing new attributions while reconsidering others. The ultimate goal is to address the central question: can Jacopone da Faenza be regarded as a Ferrarese painter?

Abstract
Starting from the scant biographical data available concerning the relationship between the Romagnol painter Jacopo Bertucci, known as Jacopone da Faenza, and the sixteenth-century workshop of the Dossi in Ferrara, as well as from the pictorial evidence of his artistic maturity—which likewise reveals a profound connection with Ferrarese painting—this dissertation seeks to reconstruct Jacopone’s formative years. It aims to bring order to his oeuvre by proposing new attributions while reconsidering others. The ultimate goal is to address the central question: can Jacopone da Faenza be regarded as a Ferrarese painter?| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
