This thesis explores the “dark side” of artificial intelligence in smart manufacturing. Instead of focusing on benefits and success factors, it examines the possible drawbacks, risks and unintended consequences of AI adoption in production, quality, maintenance and supply chain management. Through a systematic literature review, the study aims to build a clearer and balanced understanding of these issues and to support a more cautious and responsible use of AI in manufacturing.
