The project is focused on the synthesis of dinuclear gold(I) complexes supported by bidentate N-phosphanyl N-heterocyclic carbene ligands, with the objective of evaluating alkynyl functionalization as a strategy to modulate structural stability and biological potential. A monocationic dinuclear precursor was obtained and subsequently functionalized with alkynyl fragments, affording new conjugates suitable for preliminary biological assessment. Structural studies revealed pronounced intramolecular aurophilic Au···Au interactions, indicative of a stabilizing influence on the metal core. The results provide initial evidence that alkynyl modification can enhance key properties of dinuclear gold(I)–NHCP systems and outline a foundation for future optimization of structure and performance.

Abstract
The project is focused on the synthesis of dinuclear gold(I) complexes supported by bidentate N-phosphanyl N-heterocyclic carbene ligands, with the objective of evaluating alkynyl functionalization as a strategy to modulate structural stability and biological potential. A monocationic dinuclear precursor was obtained and subsequently functionalized with alkynyl fragments, affording new conjugates suitable for preliminary biological assessment. Structural studies revealed pronounced intramolecular aurophilic Au···Au interactions, indicative of a stabilizing influence on the metal core. The results provide initial evidence that alkynyl modification can enhance key properties of dinuclear gold(I)–NHCP systems and outline a foundation for future optimization of structure and performance.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
