This thesis seeks to understand how perceptions of old built heritage in Brittany have evolved since the end of the 20th century, and the actions taken to preserve architectural heritage and construction techniques. Since the end of the 19th century, an awareness of architectural heritage has begun to emerge. This awareness has grown as research into vernacular heritage has progressed. Legislation was introduced to protect old buildings of heritage interest. The aim of this research is to understand what other forms of protection and actions have been implemented outside the state legislative framework by individuals, construction professionals, associations and local authorities; what their requirements and actions are, how they are disseminated and what audiences they reach

Le présent mémoire cherche à comprendre l’évolution de la perception du patrimoine bâti ancien en Bretagne depuis la fin du Xxe siècle, et les actions mises en place dans le but de préserver le patrimoine architectural ainsi que les techniques de construction. Déjà depuis la fin du XIXe siècle, un début de conscience patrimoniale architecturale commence à émerger. Cette conscience se développe à mesure que des recherches se font sur le patrimoine vernaculaire. Des législations se mettent en place pour protéger le bâti ancien qui a un intérêt patrimonial. Le but de cette recherche est de chercher à comprendre quelles sont les autres protections et actions mises en place en dehors du cadre législatifs étatiques, par des particuliers, professionnels de la construction, associations et communes ; quelles sont leurs prescriptions, actions, comment elles se diffusent et quels publics elles touchent.
