This thesis examines the contribution of psycho-oncology to the integration of psychoeducational and psychotherapeutic interventions within cancer care pathways, with particular attention to the role of the health psychologist in hospital and outpatient settings. The first objective is to explore the structure and aims of psychoeducational interventions designed to address the cognitive symptoms commonly associated with chemobrain. Through the description of a group intervention for women with breast cancer, the rationale, core contents, and main outcomes in terms of awareness, coping strategies, and mutual support are outlined. The second objective concerns the presentation of a clinical case involving an individual psychotherapeutic intervention in an oncological context. The case formulation, therapeutic process, and clinical themes that emerged throughout the intervention highlight the specific features of the therapeutic relationship in the context of severe illness, characterized by emotional vulnerability, uncertainty, and the need for coordination with the medical team. The third objective offers a structured reflection on the role of the health psychologist across different oncological settings, emphasizing key functions, required competencies, and operational challenges, with particular attention to the emerging needs of today’s oncology population.
