INDIVIDUAZIONE DEI SITI RIPRODUTTIVI DEL FALCO DI PALUDE NELLE AREE UMIDE DELLA PARTE VENETA DEL DELTA DEL PO

This study aims to locate and census breeding pairs of the Western Marsh Harrier (Circus aeruginosus) within the wetlands of the Venetian side of the Po Delta. This foundational fieldwork is a prerequisite for formulating effective management strategies for the species. Indeed, quantifying a species' population size constitutes the essential baseline for evaluating its demographic trajectory and for informing subsequent management decisions, both for the species itself and its habitat. This is particularly critical given the Harrier's status as a nationally and internationally protected taxon. Furthermore, the abundance data gathered in the Delta's wetlands enable comparative analysis with population density records from other wetland systems across Italy.

Scopo del presente elaborato è la localizzazione ed il conteggio delle coppie nidificanti di Falco di palude nelle aree umide della parte veneta del Delta del Po. Questa fase operativa è fondamentale per poter pianificare la gestione di questa specie. La conoscenza del numero di individui di una specie è, infatti, il punto di partenza per valutare il suo andamento demografico e prendere delle decisioni in merito alla gestione della stessa e dell’habitat in cui vive, soprattutto considerando che si tratta di una specie protetta a livello nazionale e internazionale. I dati rilevati sulla numerosità della specie, all’interno delle aree umide del Delta, permettono anche un raffronto con i dati di densità dei soggetti presenti in altre zone umide del territorio nazionale.
