The objective of my work is to explore how artificial intelligence can optimize the inventory management of SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) components in the company where I completed my internship and where I am currently employed, Carel Industries S.p.A. The thesis will cover the following steps: 1. data collection: SMT codes, set up times, fast-moving codes; 2. model formalization: definition of inputs/outputs, definition of formulas useful for the development of the model, management of the database; 3. development of an Excel tool (macro) using AI technologies: design of a customized algorithm for data management and processing, implementation of a practical tool based on an Excel macro (technical know-how provided by AI tools), development of a user-friendly interface (technical know-how provided by AI tools); 4. conclusions: measurement of economic, space, and time savings
