This thesis examines migrant reception and integration in Cyprus through a comparative analysis of the municipalities of Nicosia and Paralimni. The study explores how local governance structures, civil society organisations, and institutional cooperation influence migrant integration outcomes in areas such as housing, healthcare, education, and labour market access. Using a qualitative methodology based on secondary data analysis, policy documents, field observations conducted during an internship with the Cyprus Red Cross Society, and a semi-structured expert interview, the research highlights the significant differences that exist between municipalities despite operating under the same national legal framework. The findings suggest that local institutional capacity, NGO presence, funding availability, and coordination mechanisms play a central role in shaping migrant inclusion and access to services in Cyprus.

Abstract
This thesis examines migrant reception and integration in Cyprus through a comparative analysis of the municipalities of Nicosia and Paralimni. The study explores how local governance structures, civil society organisations, and institutional cooperation influence migrant integration outcomes in areas such as housing, healthcare, education, and labour market access. Using a qualitative methodology based on secondary data analysis, policy documents, field observations conducted during an internship with the Cyprus Red Cross Society, and a semi-structured expert interview, the research highlights the significant differences that exist between municipalities despite operating under the same national legal framework. The findings suggest that local institutional capacity, NGO presence, funding availability, and coordination mechanisms play a central role in shaping migrant inclusion and access to services in Cyprus.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
