On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the promulgation of the papal bull Dominus ac Redemptor, the suppression of the Jesuit order has gained an increasingly prominent place within the field of Jesuit Studies. Research on this phenomenon in the Kingdom of France has mostly been limited to its metropolitan borders, often overlooking the impact it had across the territories of the so-called First French Colonial Empire. This thesis aims to fill part of this historiographical gap by examining the premises, dynamics, and consequences of the dissolution of Jesuit missions in the French colonies of the Caribbean region, specifically in the Lessr Antilles, as well as in Saint-Domingue and French Guiana.

Abstract
On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the promulgation of the papal bull Dominus ac Redemptor, the suppression of the Jesuit order has gained an increasingly prominent place within the field of Jesuit Studies. Research on this phenomenon in the Kingdom of France has mostly been limited to its metropolitan borders, often overlooking the impact it had across the territories of the so-called First French Colonial Empire. This thesis aims to fill part of this historiographical gap by examining the premises, dynamics, and consequences of the dissolution of Jesuit missions in the French colonies of the Caribbean region, specifically in the Lessr Antilles, as well as in Saint-Domingue and French Guiana.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
