This work presents a comparative investigation of coupled electromagnetic and thermal simulation approaches using the commercial software ANSYS Maxwell and ANSYS Mechanical APDL. A detailed comparison between the two FEM tools is performed, with particular focus on their meshing strategies. To this end, several induction heating configurations are analyzed, including both longitudinal and transverse flux models, in two-dimensional and three-dimensional domains. Furthermore, new possibilities for modeling motion in continuous heating systems are explored and applied to the transverse flux configuration in both 2D and 3D cases. The work provides useful guidelines for the selection of appropriate modeling approaches.
