The Alpine region was heavily affected by battles during the First World War, which left a deep mark on the mountain landscape, with traces that are still visible today. The abandonment and lack of management of these sites, and in particular of historical infrastructures such as roads, mule tracks and paths, have made it necessary to carry out studies aimed at enhancing the value of the territory. This study proposes a preliminary analysis of the possible restoration of a section of mule track, with two main goals: firstly, to ensure access to high-altitude areas for the management of the forest, pastoral and landscape heritage; secondly, to preserve and promote local historical and cultural memory. The complex morphology of the area requires targeted design solutions in order to address issues related to slope stability. A specific objective of the thesis is to assess whether a portable GPS device can provide sufficiently accurate data for a preliminary analysis, or whether a GNSS receiver is required instead. The work examines several aspects in order to obtain a comprehensive overview of the current condition of the mule track section under consideration. The study site is located in the municipality of Taibon Agordino (BL), in the Val di Reiane, a small area within the Valle di San Lucano. Following Storm Vaia in 2018, the study area underwent significant changes in its territorial structure. The field survey involved measuring the road section subject to restoration using geolocation devices, with particular attention to the identification of critical points. Data processing, carried out using QGIS, RoadEng and AutoCAD software, made it possible to obtain a comprehensive spatial picture as well as the possibility to analyse and define possible remediation works. In terms of results, the thesis produces a comparative map aimed at evaluating the accuracy of the two survey methods used. Based on this data, the study intends to put forward design proposals for improving accessibility, defining intervention priorities and assessing possible environmental impacts and limitations related to the context. The analysis is also supported by a preliminary cost estimate of the planned works. It should be noted that this work does not constitute a project within the meaning of Article 41 of Legislative Decree 36/2023; however, it aims to provide the foundation needed to initiate a structured design process. In conclusion, the restoration of the mule track serves not only in a practical access function, but it also represents a broader intervention that includes the protection and enhancement of the territory, capable of integrating historical memory with sustainable use and careful management of the Alpine landscape.
La regione alpina, durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale, è stata segnata da scontri bellici che hanno inciso profondamente il paesaggio montano, lasciando tracce visibili fino al giorno d’oggi. L’abbandono e la mancanza di gestione di questi luoghi ed in particolare delle infrastrutture storiche come strade, mulattiere e sentieri, portano alla necessità di effettuare alcuni studi per valorizzare il territorio. Lo studio propone un’analisi preliminare relativa al possibile ripristino di una porzione di mulattiera, con una duplice finalità: da un lato assicurare l’accessibilità alle zone d’alta quota per la gestione del patrimonio silvo-pastorale e paesaggistico, dall'altro preservare e valorizzare la memoria storica-culturale locale. La complessità morfologica dell’area richiede soluzioni progettuali mirate per far fronte alle criticità legate alla stabilità del versante. Un obiettivo specifico della tesi è verificare se un dispositivo GPS portatile possa fornire dati sufficientemente accurati per un’analisi preliminare, oppure se sia invece necessario ricorrere a un ricevitore GNSS. L’elaborato approfondisce diversi aspetti in modo da ottenere una visione complessiva sullo stato attuale del tratto di mulattiera considerato. Il sito di studio è localizzato nel comune di Taibon Agordino (BL), in Val di Reiane, una piccola zona della Valle di San Lucano. Dopo la tempesta Vaia del 2018, l’area di studio ha subito significative trasformazioni sull’assetto del territorio. Il rilievo in campo ha riguardato la misurazione del tratto viario oggetto di ripristino mediante dispositivi di geolocalizzazione, con particolare attenzione nell’individuazione dei punti critici. L’elaborazione dei dati, tramite i software QGIS, RoadEng e AutoCAD, ha consentito di acquisire un quadro esaustivo di carattere spaziale, di analizzare e definire i possibili interventi di sistemazione. Sul piano dei risultati, la tesi restituisce una mappa comparativa, volta a valutare l’accuratezza tra i due metodi di rilievo adottati. A partire da questi dati, si intende formulare delle proposte progettuali per il miglioramento della viabilità, definendo le priorità di intervento e valutando i possibili impatti ambientali e i limiti legati al contesto. L’analisi è infine corredata da un computo metrico estimativo delle opere previste. Si precisa che il presente lavoro non si configura come progetto ai sensi dell’art. 41 del D.Lgs 36/2023; esso intende tuttavia fornire gli elementi conoscitivi necessari per l’avvio di un iter progettuale strutturato. In conclusione, il recupero della mulattiera non ha soltanto una funzione viaria ma si configura come un intervento che comprende la tutela e la valorizzazione del territorio, capace di integrare la memoria storica con una fruizione sostenibile e gestione attenta del paesaggio alpino.
