Adult romantic attachment represents a fundamental dimension for understanding individual psychological well-being and relationship quality. Within this framework, the present study aimed to investigate the association between individual psychological well-being and relationship satisfaction; to examine the effects of insecure attachment dimensions, namely attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance, on psychological well-being, depressive symptoms, and relationship satisfaction; and to explore the mediating role of perceived social support, self-compassion, and differentiation of self. A cross-sectional research design was employed using a sample of adult couples, with data collected through validated self-report measures and analyzed using the Actor–Partner Interdependence Model (APIM) and mediation analyses. The findings revealed a significant association between individual psychological well-being and relationship satisfaction and confirmed the role of attachment anxiety as a vulnerability factor for psychological well-being, depressive symptoms, and relationship quality. Furthermore, self-compassion, differentiation of self, and perceived social support were found to play significant, although distinct, mediating roles in the relationship between attachment and psychological well-being. Overall, these findings highlight the importance of individual psychological resources in promoting both psychological and relational well-being, providing valuable implications for future research and clinical practice.

Abstract
Overall, these findings highlight the importance of individual psychological resources in promoting both psychological and relational well-being, providing valuable implications for future research and clinical practice.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
