This study explores the relationship between forms of self-awareness and psychological well – being. Specifically, the relationship beetween mindfulness, the mechanism of dereification, stress, rumination, non-attachment, self-compassion, stable self-esteem, and narcissism. Mindfulness and dereification are considered as processes that may promote the ability to observe thoughts and emotions without completely identifying with them, fostering a more balanced relationship with the self and one’s inner experience. The second part of the thesis focuses on the empirical research, presenting the method, the reference sample, the aims of the study, and the analyses conducted. The main hypothesis is that higher levels of mindfulness and dereification may be associated with lower levels of stress and ruminative thoughts, as well as with greater self-compassion and stable self-esteem.
