Dating applications have millions of users worldwide, and their widespread diffusion represents the outcome of an evolutionary process of matchmaking practices, which are rooted in the history of the human Community. Within the scientific domain, psychology observes their use by relating it to psychopathology. Starting from the need to provide dating app users with scientific support in their use of these applications, the present dissertation observes such use, consistently with its theoretical framework, Dialogic Science, as a discursive configuration. Therefore, beginning from the definition of the construct of Health, this study aims to measure this construct in the use of dating applications, in order to provide users with guidelines for an app use that promotes Health. In this study, a structured open-ended interview protocol was developed and administered to 40 dating application users in order to collect discursive productions concerning their use of such applications. The collected texts were analysed through the M.A.D.I.T. methodology (Methodology for the Analysis of Computerized Textual Data), using the Periodic Table of Discursive Repertoires to identify the repertoires employed and quantify the level of Health through the decomposition of the Health construct into sub-dimensions. The analysis highlighted the presence of different levels of Health within users’ discursive configurations. In particular, lower levels were characterized by a prevalence of repertoires oriented toward the maintenance of configurations and by a limited anticipation of future scenarios, whereas higher levels showed a greater presence of generative repertoires and a more articulated management of interactions. Guidelines for the promotion of Health were developed with reference to the sub-dimensions of goal orientation, reference to the interactive setting, anticipation of future scenarios, and management of critical aspects. It is hoped that a collaboration with the managers of the major dating applications may be established in order to promote Health among users.

Abstract
It is hoped that a collaboration with the managers of the major dating applications may be established in order to promote Health among users.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
