The thesis examines the literary representation of Naples through an approach that combines geocriticism, urban imagery, and the Southern Italian meridionalist tradition. Following a reconstruction of several key stages in the ways Naples has been perceived, from the Grand Tour to modernity, the study focuses on the contemporary city. Naples is interpreted as a complex, layered, and contradictory space. The aim is to show how literature contributes to constructing, transforming, and problematising the image of the city
