This study examines Genesis 1:1-2 with particular attention to the expression rûaḥ ĕlōhîm, analyzing its meaning within the context of biblical cosmogony and its interpretative reception. Through a method that integrates the historical-critical approach, philological analysis, and the study of rabbinic tradition, the investigation highlights the reading of rûaḥ as “wind”, as an alternative to the traditional interpretation of “Spirit of God". The analysis engages with the evidence of rabbinic literature, in particular the Midrash Berešit Rabbah, as well as with modern scholarly literature. In dialogue with these sources, elements of apocryphal literature are also considered in order to highlight the polysemy of rûaḥ and the plurality of interpretations related to the origin of the world.

Abstract
In dialogue with these sources, elements of apocryphal literature are also considered in order to highlight the polysemy of rûaḥ and the plurality of interpretations related to the origin of the world.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
