This thesis analyses the preliminary engine evaluation process applied to the V2500 engine family at MTU Maintenance Lease Services (MTU MLS), the leasing and asset management subsidiary of MTU Aero Engines based in Amsterdam. Based on a six-month internship within the asset management team, the work describes the current evaluation workflow, identifies its main critical points and proposes a set of methodological improvements aimed at increasing the consistency and the traceability of the early-stage assessments. The proposed framework is then applied to a set of representative business cases, with particular attention to the boundary between engines suitable for a continued green-time use and engines that are more efficiently directed towards a teardown for the recovery of used serviceable material. The results highlight the impact of the preliminary evaluation on the downstream commercial decisions and provide a structured basis on which future developments of the methodology and of the supporting tools can be built.
