Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) requires lifelong insulin therapy and generates large amounts of data through continuous glucose monitoring and wearable devices, enabling the development of personalized digital twins (DTs). A DT is a virtual representation of a patient that reproduces individual glucose-insulin dynamics to support personalized therapy optimization. A crucial step for the creation of accurate and reliable DT is the twinning procedure, which is the identification of patient-specific parameters from CGM, carbohydrate and insulin information. Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) have emerged as a powerful tool to improve the twinning procedure. This work aims to leverage PINNs for the identification of a DT in T1D using a simplified glucose-insulin model. In particular, the study evaluates the ability of PINNs to estimate key patient-specific parameters and analyzes the impact of training hyperparameters on identification performance.

Abstract
In particular, the study evaluates the ability of PINNs to estimate key patient-specific parameters and analyzes the impact of training hyperparameters on identification performance.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
