This thesis offers a linguistic and stylistic-rhetorical analysis of Primo Levi's L'altrui mestiere (1985), a collection of elzeviri published mainly in «La Stampa», with the aim of providing a coherent stylistic-rhetorical profile of Levi's essayistic prose. The study is organized into three chapters. The first examines the comic dimension, tracing its biographical and cultural roots – Levi's self-claimed hybrid identity and the tradition of Jewish Diaspora humour – and analysing its rhetorical devices: analogical disproportion, anthropomorphic estrangement, understatement, hybridization of the canon, taxonomic parody, and forms of self-irony. The second chapter investigates the rhetorical-argumentative dimension of the collection, starting from simile and metaphor, before examining oxymoron as a synthesis of opposites and the figures of accumulation and repetition that punctuate Levi's syntax. The third chapter is devoted to the lexicon, in its technical-specialist components, its plurilingualism, its use of adjectives, and its use of the compositional hyphen. The conclusion draws these results together into a unified picture, opening up several avenues of research that remain unexplored.

Abstract
The conclusion draws these results together into a unified picture, opening up several avenues of research that remain unexplored.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
