This thesis traces the history of the Italian company Zoppas, founded in Conegliano (Veneto), from its beginnings as a small artisan workshop to its rise as one of Italy’s leading manufacturers of household appliances, and ultimately to the disappearance of the brand. Although the company no longer exists under its original name, the Zoppas family continues to play an important role in the industrial sector through new business ventures operating both in Italy and internationally. By examining the company’s innovations, its flagship products, and its historical development, this research shows how the legacy of an entrepreneurial experience can endure long after the disappearance of a brand. It also explores the memory left by this industrial past and the ways in which it has been preserved, transmitted, and transformed over time. To this end, the thesis draws on archival sources, photographs, oral testimonies, and cultural initiatives, making it possible to reconstruct not only the history of Zoppas but also the place it continues to occupy in the memories of those who experienced it. The analysis reveals a contrast between the historical, economic, and social importance that the company once held for the city of Conegliano and the relatively limited recognition of its legacy within the local community today. The former industrial complex, located in the heart of the city and now abandoned, remains the most visible reminder of this past while raising broader questions about the preservation of industrial heritage and the transmission of collective memory to future generations. Ultimately, this thesis reflects on the relationship between industrial history, collective memory, and territorial identity, showing how the legacy of a company can continue to shape a community long after the disappearance of the brand that made it well known.
