V471-Tau is a close binary system belonging to the Hyades cluster, composed of a hot white dwarf and a K-type main-sequence star. The short orbital period keeps the cool component in rapid, tidally synchronized rotation, favouring strong magnetic and chromospheric activity. This thesis presents a spectroscopic study of V471-Tau based on two observing campaigns carried out at the Asiago Astrophysical Observatory and separated by approximately two years. The analysis focuses on the Hα line region, used as an indicator of chromospheric activity. The spectra were aligned through cross-correlation with respect to a mean template; the chromospheric contribution to the Hα line was then isolated by spectral subtraction and quantified through measurements of the relative equivalent width. The observations confirm the well-known orbital modulation of the Hα emission, which is stronger when the hemisphere of the K star facing the white dwarf is visible. The two campaigns show a similar overall behaviour, but differences in the amplitude of the modulation indicate a variation in the chromospheric activity between the two epochs. The comparison was finally extended to the main spectroscopic observations available in the literature, reconstructing the evolution of the Hα modulation over a time span of several decades. Two independent time-series analysis methods suggest a possible characteristic timescale of the order of a decade, in agreement with previous indications of long-term variability in the chromospheric activity of V471-Tau.
