This report describes and analyses the intervention carried out during a curricular internship at Associação ANA (Acolher, Nutrir, Amar), in Kupul, Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, between February and May 2026, within the framework of the Master's in Regional and Local Studies at the University of Madeira, integrated in the Erasmus Mundus double degree programme in Sustainable Territorial Development-Climate Change and Diversity at the University of Padova. The intervention comprised four environmental education projects: a pedagogical garden, two waste cleanup and awareness actions in the Kupul neighbourhood, a field study visit to the Bijagós Archipelago, and a series of environmental education lectures at the Cooperativa Escolar de São José. The methodology adopted was participatory action research, grounded in a decolonial epistemological orientation that prioritised local voices and knowledges. The report is organised around three conceptual axes, sustainability, environmental education, and community. Developed in the theoretical framework of Chapter I and operationalised in the projects described in Chapter III. The critical analysis in Chapter IV acknowledges the limitations of a short-term intervention, particularly the gap between the declared decolonial framework and the pedagogy delivered and proposes the school ‘Aqui Nasce o Amanhã’ as a horizon for continuity. The internship demonstrated that environmental education in contexts of institutional fragility requires continuity, infrastructure investment, and rootedness in local knowledges, while representing a modest but genuine contribution to the environmental transformation of the Kupul community.
