Abstract
Kyrle Bellew's "Charlotte Corday", with Cora Potter in the title role, was written in the first half of the 1890s and performed for the first time in 1894, but it was never printed and is today largely forgotten. This thesis proposes the exhumation of an obscure text in the hope of gaining from it a new perspective on the cultural, literary and theatrical landscape of the period in which it was conceived and performed.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
