This thesis examines cartoon-induced tourism — the phenomenon by which an animated film generates tourist interest in the real places that inspired its creation. The work is structured in three chapters: the first outlines the theoretical framework of film-induced tourism as applied to animated cinema; the second examines territorial marketing strategies, the profile of the animation tourist, and the risks this phenomenon generates for local communities; the third analyses three case studies produced by Pixar Animation Studios: Brave (2012) and Scotland, Coco (2017) and Mexico, and Luca (2021) and Liguria. For each case, the creative team's field research process, the institutional collaborations with local tourist bodies, and the impact generated on the territories involved are examined.

For each case, the creative team's field research process, the institutional collaborations with local tourist bodies, and the impact generated on the territories involved are examined.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
