This thesis examines the phenomenon of register transition in the Western vocal tradition, from medieval conceptions of the voice to contemporary approaches. The study traces the development of major vocal theories and the growing integration of performance practice, physiology, and vocal pedagogy. Particular attention is given to contemporary vocology and to the PROEL-EN® and Speech Level Singing (SLS) methods. The experimental section presents three case studies characterized by different conditions of muscular balance and vocal coordination. Through targeted exercises and an individualized approach, the study observes the subjects’ responses and changes in register transition. The results highlight the importance of flexible teaching based on listening, bodily awareness, and the adaptation of strategies to each singer’s individual characteristics.
