In psychotherapy research, the debate between specific and non-specific factors is one of the most open theoretical issues, and the literature is increasingly oriented toward an integrated view of the two dimensions. The present thesis is situated within this framework, aiming to contribute to the study of relational factors within a successful psychotherapy conducted using the Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) approach. Through process and outcome research applied to a single-case study, six treatment sessions were analyzed, with the aim of investigating the course of the therapeutic alliance and countertransference, their reciprocal influence, and the relationship of both constructs with the quality of single sessions and the overall outcome of the therapy. The results show that the positive outcome of the therapy is associated with an overall upward trend of the therapeutic alliance and a limited presence of countertransference behaviors. These patterns were accompanied by fluctuations in the indicators of session impact, while the perceived effectiveness of the sessions remained stably high throughout the entire course of therapy. The present analysis offers insights for understanding the role of relational factors in ISTDP, suggesting the utility of continuously monitoring the alliance and countertransference as a tool to guide clinical work session by session.

Abstract
The present analysis offers insights for understanding the role of relational factors in ISTDP, suggesting the utility of continuously monitoring the alliance and countertransference as a tool to guide clinical work session by session.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
