The synthesis of new polynuclear cluster based on sulphur containing ligand has led to the investigation of Zirconium and hafnium chemistry, in the presence of the bidentate ligand thioacetic acid. The aim was to adapt the reaction of formation of zirconium and hafnium oxocluster to a bidentate, thiocarboxylic acid, in order to deepen the knowledge of sulphur chemistry, in particoular in relation to metal species. The reaction with Zr(OBu)4 e Hf(OBu)4 and thioacetic acid has led to three and one, respectively, new structures: the oxothiocluster Zr4 and Zr6 and the thiocluster Zr3, for Zr(OBu)4 and the oxothiocluster Hf4 for Hf(OBu)4. All these structures have been investigated through XRD, 1H and 13C NMR; also FT-IR and Raman were used for the oxothiocluster Zr4.
