Abstract

The quality of the weld of aerospace components is strictly related to their thickness close to the welding edge. After a screening of the sensors based on the specifications of the project, a sensor system for the measurement of the thickness has been done. Two LVDTs have been tested on a component with a setup designed ad hoc for the part. The results proved to be reliable and characterized by good accuracy. The system is implementable in the company manufacturer of aerospatial components
