This thesis presents the results of an intensive research activity into the characterization and modeling of the structural behavior of woven fabric composites. The experimental characterization includes static and fatigue testing of notched and unnotched specimens, for both on-axis and off-axis loads. Numerical Analyses have been conducted at mico, meso and macro-scales in order to justify the damage mechanisms for this material. The numerical results match very well the experimental ones

Abstract

This thesis presents the results of an intensive research activity into the characterization and modeling of the structural behavior of woven fabric composites. The experimental characterization includes static and fatigue testing of notched and unnotched specimens, for both on-axis and off-axis loads. Numerical Analyses have been conducted at mico, meso and macro-scales in order to justify the damage mechanisms for this material. The numerical results match very well the experimental ones
