Study of an exceptionally well preserved skull of a toothed and crested pterosaur from the Lower Cretaceous of Brazil The purpose of this work is the study of an unpublished skull of a toothed and crested pterosaur from the Lower Cretaceous Romualdo Formation of Chapada do Araripe (Northeastern Brazil). The specimen, presently housed in the Museum of Natural History of Venice (catalogue number MSNVE 21232), was acquired in 1983 by Centro Studi Ricerche Ligabue of Venice and never received a proper description. The fossil was studied in detail, in strict collaboration with Natural History Museum and San Giovanni e Paolo Hospital of Venice. Analyses with both UV light and CT scan show that the specimen suffered little reconstruction and all its fragments come from the same individual. Morphologic comparisons with other toothed and crested pterosaurs from Chapada do Araripe support MSNVE 21232 as a new species of Anhanguera, not yet formally described.
