Creazione e catalogazione di una collezione paleontologica didattica per il Dipartimento di Geoscienze

This works reports on the gathering, determination and catalogation of a new fossil collection to be stored at the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padova, which is intended as an attempt to emancipate from the employement of the “historical” paleontological collection preserved at the Museum of Paleontology for teaching purposes. The new collection is composed of 330 specimens, mostly provided free of charge by German collectors, which have been determined according to the current taxonomical nomenclature. Fossils have been described and recorded digitally, in order to create an user-friendly database to be also consulted online. Given the short time available for this work, however, for covering the teaching needs during the forthcoming academic year it will be necessary to employ, possibly for the last time, the “historical” collection of the Museum of Paleontology
