This Thesis deals with the characterization of the mechanical behaviour of epoxy, one of the most common thermoset matrices for composite materials. The VisCoR model, developed at LTU, is used to describe its properties, considering in particular the effect of testing temperature and cure state parameters. The final aim is helping in the development of industrial tools to predict residual stresses and shape distortions.

Abstract

This Thesis deals with the characterization of the mechanical behaviour of epoxy, one of the most common thermoset matrices for composite materials. The VisCoR model, developed at LTU, is used to describe its properties, considering in particular the effect of testing temperature and cure state parameters. The final aim is helping in the development of industrial tools to predict residual stresses and shape distortions.
