In-region location verification (IRLV) aims at verifying whether a user is inside a specific region. We proposed an IRLV system, based on machine learning (ML), that verifies the position through the estimated features of the wireless channels connecting the device to the Base Stations (BSs). Also, we propose ML techniques that can be used by an attacker located outside a specific region in order to break the IRLV system and let the network believe that he is inside this region.

Abstract

In-region location verification (IRLV) aims at verifying whether a user is inside a specific region. We proposed an IRLV system, based on machine learning (ML), that verifies the position through the estimated features of the wireless channels connecting the device to the Base Stations (BSs). Also, we propose ML techniques that can be used by an attacker located outside a specific region in order to break the IRLV system and let the network believe that he is inside this region.
