The aim of the thesis is to simulate a self-avoiding walk with bending rigidity and containing a knot, to understand the statistics of the knot size as a function of the temperature. Moreover, we are interested to add flexible "defects" in the chain and to sample their distances for understanding if they collapse the knot size at low temperatures. The system represents a simple model of DNA.
