This study deals with the use of plasma to activate the fabric surface to increase the add-on of flame retardants. Two types of cold plasma equipment have been invastigated: microwave atmospheric plasma using Ar and Ar/O2 gases and vacuum plasma using He/O2 gas. Better functionalisation is obtained by vacuum plasma machine. Then we study the pad-mangle method, results showed that the add-on content of thiourea can be improved. Also the limiting oxygen index of functionalised fabrics is enhanced
