This Thesis presents the experimental results of a research conducted at the Surfaces and Interfaces Physics Laboratory (LaFSI ) of the University of Padua, about the response of non-newtonian, 2 ÷ 20 µL, drops to sinusoidal vibrations. This study represents an extension of a methodology already tested for ordinary fluids, also to the analysis of the vibration-induced motions of drops made of shear-thinning solutions on an inclined substrate. The phase dyagrams obtained revealed some surprising and partially unprecedented results, such as the climbing of viscous 20 µL droplets made of both newtonian (glycerine/water 85%) and non-newtonian (xanthan/water 2500 ppM) solutions. The experiment also involved the analysis of the first normal mode of sessile droplets, whose results were consistent with the ones found in litterature and have been applied to non-newtonians aswell.
