In subsonic flight, the intake of a civil aircraft has a primary role in the generation of thrust, because the airflow behaviour, upstream and inside it, influences the overall performance of the engine. In this thesis, a CFD model is built up to investigate and describe this kind of airflow: wind tunnel test data and 1-d gas dynamics are used to validate it, so as, at the end, to optimize its shape, in order to improve drag and pressure recovery performances.

Abstract
In subsonic flight, the intake of a civil aircraft has a primary role in the generation of thrust, because the airflow behaviour, upstream and inside it, influences the overall performance of the engine. In this thesis, a CFD model is built up to investigate and describe this kind of airflow: wind tunnel test data and 1-d gas dynamics are used to validate it, so as, at the end, to optimize its shape, in order to improve drag and pressure recovery performances.File in questo prodotto:
