The aim of the work is to describe the effect that some heat treatments produce on two specific forged structural steels. On the bainitic structure of S690 a double tempering has been povided after quenching. It results in a better balancing of toughness and strength. The same purpose has been purchased in A182 F11 steel trough the addition of a step of intercritical quenching in the usual process. The resultant structure is a dual-phase steel that presents good toghness and strength
