At the outset, the aim of the paper is to clarify the complexity of attention as a cognitive function aimed at stimulus selection and processing. In particular, visual attention is investigated through references to the many existing theoretical models and by clarifying the neural basis of this cognitive process. The aim of this review is to highlight the pervasiveness and complexity of attention, introducing play as a possible tool for implementing visual attention itself. In relation to these theoretical assumptions, a study was conducted, set out within the paper, which has as its central aim the investigation of the short-term effects of play on visual attention in typically developing preschool children. This was done by means of three assessments of attentional function by means of the Cuing Task, one with initial cognitive assessment and two preceded by play sessions (AVG and Tangram). It emerged that there was no difference in the children's emotional state in relation to the two games. Disappearance of the difference in response times between valid and invalid conditions following the game sessions and, on the other hand, present at baseline. A warning effect is present following the game session with Tangram having been found to be slower on the short ISI. Finally, the results show a reduction in the accuracy of responses following the game sessions.

Abstract
Finally, the results show a reduction in the accuracy of responses following the game sessions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
