This research aims to investigate how Afghan citizens forced to leave the country and arrived in Italy following the takeover by the Taliban are experiencing a period of psychosocial transition. Starting from an ecological and systemic perspective, a thematic analysis of 34 semi-structured interviews was applied, to promote a nuanced understanding of the different biographical trajectories that are taking shape. Specifically, the research tries to realize how the need for sudden and unexpected escape has structured the present of these people and opened a sense of possibility for the future; how interpersonal relationships and social contexts in Italy contribute to orienting these life paths; and, finally, what is the relationship between individual experience and the collective trauma that the Afghan people are going through.

Abstract
This research aims to investigate how Afghan citizens forced to leave the country and arrived in Italy following the takeover by the Taliban are experiencing a period of psychosocial transition. Starting from an ecological and systemic perspective, a thematic analysis of 34 semi-structured interviews was applied, to promote a nuanced understanding of the different biographical trajectories that are taking shape. Specifically, the research tries to realize how the need for sudden and unexpected escape has structured the present of these people and opened a sense of possibility for the future; how interpersonal relationships and social contexts in Italy contribute to orienting these life paths; and, finally, what is the relationship between individual experience and the collective trauma that the Afghan people are going through.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
