The evening before the Paralympids in Rio, in 2016, Alex Zanardi thinks back to his history, his competitive career and realizes once again how life has put him to the test, but also how it has given him many opportunities that unfortunately not everyone has. It is from the desire to share, to be reborn, to be able to make others feel his same emotions as well that the desire to give an opportunity and to want to support those who would like to get closer to sport but cannot. In May 2017 the Obiettivo3 project was born, which aims to make sports practice learn and spread among the disabled who are still a category heavily penalized by the high costs and above all by the difficulty in understanding how to start. In the first chapter there is the description and evolution of adapted physical activity, the first activities adapted and designed for the disabled agonist are very recent and by Dr. Ludwig Guttman neurosurgeon, director of the National Spinal Injures Center at Stoke hospital Mandeville in 1952. Subsequently, in 1960, Antonio Maglio, director of the INAIL Paraplegic Center of Villa Marina di Ostia, set up the first Paralympics in Rome. In the second chapter of this thesis the Paralympic discipline of para-cycling is explored with an excursus on the birth, evolution and technical dispositions of this sport. The third chapter explains and details the Obiettivo3 project, while the fourth chapter reports and comments on some questions and answers given to 72 Paralympic athletes who have joined the project. Finally, the last part of the thesis is dedicated to the conclusions and a reflection on how Alex Zanardi, through his support staff, has succeeded in the enterprise of transmitting the sporting message and thus giving birth to a group of people strongly motivated to continue the dissemination of Paralympic sport.  

La sera prima delle Paralimpidi di Rio, nel 2016, Alex Zanardi ripensa alla sua storia, alla sua carriera agonistica e realizza ancora una volta come la vita lo abbia messo a dura prova, ma anche come gli abbia dato moltissime opportunità che purtroppo non tutti hanno. È dalla voglia di condividere, di rinascere, di poter far provare anche ad altri le sue stesse emozioni che è nato in lui il desiderio di regalare un’opportunità e di voler sostenere coloro i quali vogliano avvicinarsi allo sport ma non possono. Nel maggio 2017 nasce il progetto Obiettivo3 che punta a far apprendere e diffondere la pratica sportiva tra i disabili che ancora oggi sono una categoria fortemente penalizzata dagli alti costi e soprattutto dalla difficoltà nell’essere avviati all’attività paralimpica. Nel primo capitolo vi è la descrizione e l’evoluzione dell’attività fisica adattata. Le prime attività adattate e pensate per il disabile agonista furono istituite grazie alle intuizioni del Dott. Ludwig Guttman neurochirurgo, direttore del National Spinal Injures Centre dell’ospedale Stoke Mandeville nel 1952. Successivamente, nel 1960, Antonio Maglio, direttore del Centro paraplegici dell'INAIL di Villa Marina di Ostia istituì la prima paralimpiade a Roma. Nel secondo capitolo viene approfondita la disciplina paralimpica del paraciclismo con un excursus sulla nascita, l’evoluzione e le disposizioni tecniche di questo sport. Nel terzo capitolo viene spiegato e dettagliato il progetto Obiettivo3 mentre nel quarto capitolo vengono riportate e commentate alcune domande e risposte somministrate a 72 atleti paralimpici che hanno aderito al progetto. Infine, l’ultima parte della tesi è dedicata alle conclusioni e ad una riflessione su quanto Alex Zanardi, tramite il suo staff di supporto, sia riuscito nell’impresa di trasmettere il messaggio sportivo e far nascere così un gruppo di persone fortemente motivato a continuare la divulgazione dello sport paralimpico.
